Last time we looked at our spreadsheet of space sizes which was a excellent starting point for our floor plan. however what about the plot that we’re really going to be building on?
The Site
Our new house will be developed on an infill plot between 2 other houses. The site is around ¾ of an acre and looks out towards the hills of rural region Down. The field slopes down carefully to the south as well as we’ll be building on the greatest part with the front of the home approximately 75m back from the road.
When we bought the site it already had planning permission granted for a traditional style house so we set about altering that to our own contemporary design, working with our designers 2020.
From the begin we felt the plot leant itself to a style that would run North to South, instead of across site in an east to West direction. We especially desired a South dealing with element to take advantage of solar gain for the primary living areas.
After around a year of working on our style (more on that in a future post) our new plans were submitted for approval in January 2018 as well as we got the great news in April 2018 that they had been passed very first time.
At this point though we were dealt with with a frustrating pause in our job as there was the bit matter of selling our previous house before we might move forward. It took 16 months to offer as well as we completed in October last year. Once we were out it was all systems go.
We’re getting extremely close to starting on site now as well as hope to have some news on that in our next post. In the meantime inspect out the links below so you don’t miss it.
Remember to check out our Instagram to comply with the project, checked out the rest of the Automated house 2.0 blog posts as well as discover the links to all the products we’ve utilized in our self-build.
